We hope that you have all been keeping safe and well during over the past few months, our lives have been turned upside down and the world is a very different place since the COVID19 pandemic. Therefore we wanted to reassure you that we have been working hard here at Callestock to put the necessary safety measures in place so that we can welcome you back to Cornwall now that the Government has given us the green light.
As you know Callestock is an ideal place to holiday as each cottage is fully self-contained and social distancing is easy. Fresh Cornish air and lots of open spaces make Cornwall the perfect place to enjoy a socially distancing break.
We pride ourselves on our high levels of cleanliness and can assure you that this will continue together with the necessary sanitising procedures that are required. As you know Liz takes part and manages the cleaning together with her house-keeper Jayne and during the cleaning process we will be wearing the appropriate PPE of washable apron, gloves and face covering, these will be changed between changeovers. We have been awarded the “Safe, Clean and Legal” certificate by Quality in Tourism following inspection of our COVID19 Secure Policy and COVID19 Risk Assessment.
We will be using our regular cleaning products followed by Sodium Hypochlorite or Miltons solutions for wiping all surfaces (accredited to BS EN1276 standards).
Dishwashers are provided in each cottage and prior to your stay, we will be placing all items that have been used by the previous guests in the dishwashers on a hot wash.
All bed linen and mattress, pillow protectors will be laundered at 60 degrees here at the farmhouse until the laundry that we use is back up and running.
Before you travel
Most importantly, please do not travel to us if you are in a high risk area that has been placed into lockdown. Call Liz immediately and she will re-arrange your stay.
Also as per Government advice, please do not travel to us if you or anyone in your party or household is showing any of the common symptoms of Coronavirus (ie fever, persistent cough, loss of taste or smell). We only have one hospital in Cornwall and the pressure on them in the summer is already huge. We will happily re-arrange your stay for a future date. For your confidence in booking, all reservations are currently flexible and can be moved to another date.
As normal we will email you during the week prior to your stay to inform you of arrival details etc. Please can you give us a rough idea of your arrival time, this would be greatly appreciated. Please note that arrival times may have changed, see below. We will also inform you of local pubs offering takeaway services and also places that are open for you to enjoy.
Arrival at Callestock
On arrival please park in the usual place as there is plenty of space to ensure 2m social distancing between cottages. We will email details before your arrival if you have not stayed at Callestock before. When you arrive please call Liz on 07976 897976.
As we will need to carry out additional cleaning and sanitising of your cottage, we kindly as that you check in after 4.30pm and that you vacate by 9am (this will only be necessary if we haven’t been able to leave the property empty for 72 hours prior to your stay). We will confirm these details in your arrival email. Sanitised keys will be left on the inside of the door and the door handle will also have been sanitised and hand sanitiser will be provided in your cottage.
We ask all guests to follow the government guidelines of social distancing and hand washing regularly. Please wash your hands every time you return to your cottage.
We can supply the usual bed linen, pillows and towels for your stay, however, if you would prefer to bring your own, please let Liz know prior to your stay and she will confirm the bed size (we have 5ft and 6ft beds) and ensure that there is a mattress protector and fitted sheet on each bed.
Our information folder (which is wipeable) will contain general information regarding boiler, heating and bin day etc. There will also be information on local pubs offering takeaway services.
We will provide our usual welcome cream tea, all items are wrapped and scones will be made here in the farmhouse and placed in a sanitised contained. Please let us know if you do not wish to have a cream tea provided.
If you have used any of the operating instructions for any of the appliances , please place them on the table and we will sanitise them ready for the next guests.
If there are any maintenance issues during your stay, please call Liz on 07976897976 and she will either talk you through sorting the issue or call to the cottage (of course social distancing observed at all times) requesting that the guest either stays in another room, or is out for the day, whilst the problem is sorted.
Books, DVDs, Jigsaws and Games will still be available in each cottage, however if you use any of them, please place them on the table and we will ensure that we remove them. If you wish to take a book home with you, then please do so, we have plenty! All magazines and leaflets will be removed from your cottage and we can provide a sealed Seymac pack (visitor information), please request.
There is only one area that is communal for guests, this is the drying, refuse and recycling area in the corner of the courtyard. Before you use this area please wash your hands and please keep to 2m distancing. Also ensure that you wash your hands when returning to your cottage. For your safety, our bikes and barbecues will not be available.
Please note that during these times your accommodation is for your use only and we will not be allowing any visitors to your cottage.
Cleaning and Sanitising undertaken by Liz and Housekeeper
Housekeeping staff will wear washable PVC apron, disposable gloves and mask, changed between each changeover.
Cottages will be cleaned thoroughly according to cleaning plan put in place by Liz and every touchable surface and appliance will be sanitised according to government guidance.
Outside garden furniture will also be sanitised.
Out and About while you are here
Although Cornwall will be as wonderful as ever, it will be different. This means that not only will you need to book your accommodation before you travel, similarly all of our leading attractions have introduced advance, pre-booked tickets and most restaurants and eateries will require a reservation. Put simply, you will need to do more research, planning and pre-boking for your stay or day out.
Please be rigorous in following social distancing when out and about here in Cornwall and please be reminded that that the best way to stay safe is to regularly wash hands thoroughly.
Check-out will be at 10am as usual, unless we state differently in your arrival email. Please give Liz a call when you are leaving, as she will want to say goodbye before you leave (obviously socially distanced).
Please leave out any items that you have used eg hair dryers, irons, ironing boards, hoovers or anything else you have used during your stay to allow us to sanitise them.
Can we also ask that you open all windows for ventilation and please leave the key on the inside of the door.
Our wonderful guests often strip beds for us, which we are extremely grateful for, therefore as suggested in the guidelines and for added safety measures, can we please ask you to remove all bed linen, and protectors and place in the laundry bag provided. When full, please leave this bag on the floor just inside the front door. Please also place all towels and bathmats in the washing machine.
We also kindly ask that you empty all bins and place the rubbish in the black bag provided in the cupboard under the kitchen sink and place in the green bin in the “Drying and Recycling” area in the corner of the courtyard.
Should you feel unwell during your stay with any of the common symptoms of Coronavirus (ie fever, persistent cough, loss of taste or smell) please notify us immediately. Consistent with Government advice you will be asked to check out immediately in order to self-isolate at home and to arrange a test.
