A surprising number of brewhouses/taprooms have sprung up not far from Callestock, so if you are into craft beers we recommend giving these ones a try. The Black Flag and The Brewhouse at Lanteague are definitely within cycling distance from our cottages.
An independant brewery and taproom situated in Perranporth, just 10 minutes from our cottages here at Callestock. The Black Flag has a wide choice of beers from classic Bitters to IPAs made from the finest ingredients, this little brewery delivers all. They also serve some amazing local ciders and on Fridays and Saturdays you can sample their delicious pizzas. This taphouse is a fantastic space to head to after a day on the stunning surf beach at Perranporth. You can easily cycle to the Black Flag and we have bikes that you can borrow.
Amongst a small industrial complex of small businesses you will find The Brewhouse, a great little taphouse with views across open farmland and it's just a 5 minute drive up the road from us. Since purchasing a local brew kit, these guys have moved their brewing business to these premises at Lanteague. They serve up a great range of core beers alongside a rotating list of specials on tap.
A short walk from Truro along the riverside you will find Skinners Brewery and Tapyard. Serving up the best of Skinners Ales on tap and also a great diverse range of local craft beers, plus lots of other locally produced alcoholic beverages. The new Tapyard kitchen serves up the most delicious and best fried chicken that Truro has to offer. A short drive from Callestock, it has to be on your list of places to try.
A great brewpub and restaurant by the sea down at Trevaunance the Driftwood Spars with their own microbrewery offering delicious award winning homebrewed ales. There are three cosy bars with wood burning stoves, perfect for a cosy lunch during an autumn break at Callestock. The pubs own ales are on offer, Lou's Brew and Blackheads Mild plus a choice of other guest ales.
A little further down the road but not a million miles from Callestock you will find Verdant Brewing Taproom a great place offering super fresh Verdant beer. Behind the bar you will find a variety of keg and cask ales along with some local ciders. Head into Falmouth and you'll come across the Verdant Seafood Bar, their cosy taproom on Quay Street serving up small plates of the freshest local seafood.
