7 spots to savour a Cornish sunset

It's tough to beat the purity and beauty of a sunset, particularly one set against the coastal backdrop of Cornwall.

But not all sunsets are equal.

Here are some of the very best places we've discovered where you can experience a perfect Cornish sunset.

7. Kynance Cove

Immortalised by Aidan Turner as Ross Poldark in the award-winning BBC television series, this beach is one of Cornwall's most iconic coves.

Its clean white sands create a high impact contrast against the dark reds and greens of the surrounding serpentine cliffs, and the sunsets are amazing.

6. St Agnes Head

This historic headland is just minutes from us here at Callestock. It is home to former working tin mine Wheal Coates, which provides an impressive vantage point to watch the red ball of sun disappear below the horizon.

5. Stepper Point

Close to the working fishing port of Padstow, Stepper Point overlooks the mouth of the River Camel and offers far-reaching views across miles of sea and countryside.

4. Perranporth

Just a few minutes from us here at Callestock is the huge beach at Perranporth. With miles of golden sand, close to the bustling highstreet with cafes, pubs, and shops, it's one of the region's very best beaches.

There are also steep sand dunes to explore, where, during the day, you can spot wildlife including butterflies, birds and marine mammals playing in the waves.

3. Godrevy

Situated at the end of St Ives Bay, this popular beach has something for everyone - sandy shores, impressive waves, shallow rockpools and even a lighthouse.

In the Spring and Summer months you may also spot seals, basking on the beach at low tide with their pups.

Its size and location provide the perfect backdrop for watching the sun drop over the Atlantic Ocean.

2. Watergate Bay

With an award-winning beachside cafe, which serves locally sourced fresh dishes til late, this beach is ideal for watching the sunset in the warm.
