The biennual fundraiser at Callestock Courtyard has raised more than ever before, thanks to the generosity of guests, the business community and local people.
This year's Autumn open day, organised and hosted by Liz and Nick Down at their holiday cottages in Zelah, helped raise hundreds for a local charity with mouth-watering show-stoppers, freshly-baked cream teas and bottles of Pimm's filling the house and gardens.
The event, held at Callestock every two years, combined activities such as guess-the-number-of-sweets-in-the-jar with a raffle, auction, bottle stall and cake sale.
"We were thrilled with the turn-out, and with the enthusiasm of everyone who came along to support the day," said event organiser, Liz. "Local businesses stepped in to offer auction lots and raffle prizes, our neighbour sold signed copies of his book, and the bottles of Prosecoo were a big hit!"
"Together, we raised a whopping £1,416," continued Liz, "which is more than we've ever raised at these events before. To say we're chuffed is an understatement."
Monies raised from the day have been donated to the Cornwall Birth and Baby Appeal, which is working towards improving the environment and facilities for parents and babies in the neonatal unit at Royal Cornwall Hospital in Truro.
Nick, who challenged attendees to guess the weight of a rich fruit cake he'd baked, is already counting down to the next fundraiser. "Watch this space - plans are already underway for 2019, when we hope to make it even bigger and better!"
