There's nothing quite like a country fair to bring your inner Kirsty Allsop or Nigella to life. Not only are the fresh cakes and biscuits to die for, but the handmade crafts, live music, homewares and vintage vehicles offer plenty of inspiration to take away with you.
So if you're ready to get back to basics with a trip to one of Cornwall's traditional country fairs this Summer, here's a round-up of some of our favourites:
Mid August
If steam engines are your thing, then this is a must-see fair. With over 100 engines on display, plus military vehicles, motorcycles, working horse demonstrations and dog agility, you'll find plenty to keep your petrol head happy.
There's also a marquee hosting hundreds of tiny miniature models, from cars to puppets, dolls and trains. The craft marquee showcases some of the county's finest goodies from local producers so take care if you have cash in your wallet... you may go home with an empty purse, but a new handmade cushion, some scented candles and a block of Cornish chocolate!

Mid August
A lovely traditional fair with attractions including Mr Punch, ferret racing and fairground rides, making the St Ewe Country Fair a big hit with local families as well as holiday-makers.
There is also the flower tent, a birds of prey display, vintage tractor show and the annual tug-of-war, so bring your muscles.

Late August
This toe-tapping, hip-swinging, foot-stomping festival is held in the pretty town of Wadebridge every August Bank Holiday. It showcases some of the South West's rising stars in folk music as well as the more established musicians such as Jim Causley, Dougie Maclean and Cara Dillon.
Expect live performances and music workshops at venues throughout the town, and there will also be the opportunity to join in the sing-alongs if you like to get involved.

Late August
Get your culinary fix at one of the best celebrations of the sea and seafood in the UK - the Newlyn Fish Festival. Discover cooking secrets from some of the country's finest chefs at live cookery demonstrations, and tantalise your taste buds with freshly prepared seafood dishes.
The Festival isn't just about the food - there's also trawler racing, gig-rowing, live music and lifeboat displays (but to be honest, it's mostly about the food - yum).
