Access statement for Callestock Courtyard
Callestock Courtyard Cottages offers 7 self-catering cottages, Wheal Busy, Wheal Anna, Wheal Hope, Wheal Jane and Wheal Kitty are suitable for 2 adults in each and are located within a gravelled courtyard area, we also have an additional detached barn conversion, Orchard Cottage next to the farmhouse which is suitable for a family of 4 comprising 2 adults and 2 children.
Callestock Vean can be found in the field adjacent to the courtyard, this property sleeps 4 (adults only).

All properties have a strict no smoking policy and unfortunately as we are a working dairy farm, we are unable to accommodate pets.
Our Dairy Farm extends to approximately 200 acres, there is a farm walk and Liz offers accompanied tours around the farm.

All guests are sent an email with arrival details, directions to Callestock Courtyard and also local information regarding shopping and public houses and restaurants. The main supermarkets ie Sainsburys, Waitrose, Morrisons and Tesco are happy to deliver to your cottage here at Callestock. We also recommend the Cornish Food Box and Trevilley Farm Shop who will also deliver to our cottages.
The nearest bus stop is in Zelah – a mile away and there are regular buses into Truro and Newquay, the bus number is 85. Further details can be found on www.transportforcornwall.co.uk
Truro railway station – 5 miles away.
Newquay airport – 8 miles away.
Local taxis are available for journeys to and from the cottages.
Arrival and Car Parking Facilities
A gravelled car parking area is provided at the front of the cottages for all of the courtyard properties.
Parking for Orchard Cottage is located in the small tarmac driveway directly in front of the property.
Parking for Callestock Vean is on the gravelled area outside the property.
All guests are greeted personally and shown into their property. If for any reason Liz is not around to meet you, she will make arrangements to leave the key in the door for you, as there is always someone on site. There are outside lights from dusk til dawn to light your way, should you arrive late.

Allergens
For guests who may be allergic to or have intolerances to certain foods please refer to the ingredients list on our home-made scones, jam and Cornish Clotted cream. The breakfast cereal that we provide in our breakfast hamper does contain nuts, but it is wrapped completely separately in an air-tight jar. All other items show ingredients on packaging.
Our Cottages
Each cottage is fitted with hard wired smoke alarms and heat alarms in all kitchens. Fire extinguishers, fire blankets and carbon monoxide alarms are provided in all cottages. The meeting place in case of fire is within the courtyard is on the gravel in front of the buildings, on the tarmac drive outside Orchard Cottage and on the gravel by the steps outside Callestock Vean.
Each Cottage is equipped with hairdryers, dish-washers, washer/dryers, microwaves, freezers and electric cookers and hobs. Wheal Anna does not have a freezer, however freezer storage space is available, just ask Liz.
Towels are provided, but please bring your own beach towels. We also provide tea-towels, dishcloths, scourers and Ecover Washing up Liquid.
Beds in the courtyard cottages and Orchard Cottage are made up with hollowfibre duvets and pillows and high-quality cotton bedding.
Wheal Busy – 5 star detached barn conversion
Wheal Busy is accessed from the courtyard there are no steps to the front door. Once inside the Kitchen/Dining, Living area (all open plan), Bathroom and Single Bedroom are all on ground floor. Living area has one chair and a large two-seater sofa, Smart TV, video, DVD player with freeview, CD music system and a wood burning stove. Dining area – table and 3 chairs. Kitchen has units and granite surfaces along one side, cooker, ceramic hob, fridge, freezer, washer/dryer, dishwasher and microwave. Door into dressing room – carpeted – with wardrobe, dressing table, mirror and stool, plus blanket box. Door into bathroom – corner whirlpool bath, separate large walk-in shower, toilet, sink and airing cupboard housing oil fired combi boiler, spare duvet, towels, bath mat. Up the spiral staircase (stairs) is a 6 ft bed, TV and Bose docking system, 2 x bedside cabinets with lamps and a tub chair.
Wheal Anna – 4 star gold first floor barn conversion apartment
Wheal Anna is accessed via 13 barn steps, once inside it is all on one level. Kitchen/Dining and Living area is all open plan – flooring wood with one large rug. Living area has one chair and a three-seater sofa, Smart TV, DVD player with freeview, CD music system and a wood burning stove. Dining area – table and 2 chairs. Kitchen has units and granite surfaces on three sides, cooker, ceramic hob, fridge (under unit), washer/dryer, dishwasher and microwave. Orchard Cottage – 4 star gold detached barn conversion
Orchard Cottage is a detached family property next to our farmhouse. Access is via a tarmac drive and one small step to the front door. There are no steps inside this holiday home. On the ground floor you will find the kitchen/diner and the lounge opening out through patio doors down one step to the patio area and two steps to the garden beyond. The kitchen has units on two sides, cooker with ceramic hob, fridge/freezer, washer/dryer, dishwasher, microwave and cupboard under the stairs. The lounge has a 2 two-seater sofas, Smart TV, DVD player and real wood burning stove. On the second floor via stairs with handrails is the shower room with toilet and sink. There is a Master bedroom with king-size oak bed, wardrobe, dressing table and two bedside cabinets with lamps. Across the hall is the twin room, two x 3ft beds, wardrobe with drawers and a bedside cabinet with lamp.
Callestock Vean – 5 star gold detached single storey holiday home
Callestock Vean is a detached two bedroomed property set at the head of our valley. Access is off the unclassified road onto a gravelled driveway. There are 4 steps down to the front door, but there is also a sloping walkway to the front door. The property is all on one level with no internal steps. To the right off the entrance hall you will find the Master Bedroom with 6ft bed and dressing room, there is a Smart TV, the en-suite has a whirlpool bath, sink with cupboard under and a walk in shower with glass screen. To the left off the entrance hall you will find the second bedroom with a 6ft bed, two bedside cabinets, a bedroom chair, wardrobe, dressing table, mirror and chair and Smart TV. The en-suite has a large walk-in shower, heated towel rail, double sink unit with drawers under and a toilet. Off the entrance hall is the utility room with a washing machine and a dryer.
Living area/dining/kitchen is all open plan. There is a corner sofa, separate armchair, coffee table, smart TV, Bose sound bar, DVD player, and a wood burning stove. Dining area – glass table and 6 wooden chairs with leather seats. Kitchen has units and surfaces on two sides, with a large island, eye level cooker, ceramic hob, dishwasher and built in microwave, fridge (under unit), freezer (under unit) in island, with 4 bar stools. Door into bedroom – carpeted – with 6’ zip and link bed. Door into cloakroom – with toilet and sink. Door to walk in larder for food storage. Hidden cupboard in lobby behind large mirror door housing cleaning equipment and iron and ironing board.
Outdoor facilities
Each cottage has its own patio area. We have a wildlife pond on site, which you can walk to across our footpath in our meadows. Liz will be happy to give you details when you’re with us. We also have a Games Barn with stunning views across our farm land and beyond. Games include Table Tennis, Darts, Pool, Table Football and giant Connect 4. A drying and recycling area can be found in the corner of the courtyard. We recycle cardboard, paper, glass bottles (without lids), and plastic bottles (without lids. You will also find wheelie bins for other rubbish, please ensure that all rubbish is bagged. Barbecues are available – gas or charcoal, please let us know and we will deliver whichever you wish to your property. We have adult bikes available free of charge.
Additional Information
A welcome folder is provided in your property and in the folder you will find leaflets for places of interest and much more to help you plan your holiday. A comprehensive library of books, Maps, Walks, DVDs, Magazines, Jigsaw Puzzles and games are found in each property. We have windbreaks and body boards for your use. Here at Little Callestock we have our beautiful pedigree herd of Jersey Cows and you are most welcome to come and meet them and if you enquire with Liz she will arrange a farm tour for you.
The closest A&E is located in Truro and a Minor Injuries Unit at Newquay both of which are about a 15 minutes drive away. The closest GP is at Perranporth just a 10 minute drive away. For emergency dental treatment contact Trafalgar House Dental Practice in Truro.
